Come on… Take a Holiday
There are plenty of options and opportunities for taking a holiday break in Kenya. Here’s just a few:
Family Holiday- Taking a break with the family is a great chance for you to spend some quality time together. Plenty of hotels and lodges have special entertainment, menus and activity programs just for kids- which means they’ll be having the time of their lives while you relax and unwind.
You’ll find that your time away lets you all do what you want and brings you even closer together. The kids will not just have fun on the beach or exploring the wilderness, they’ll probably learn a lot too. The only challenge is convincing them to come home at the end.
Weekends Away - A holiday doesn’t mean spending your entire annual leave away from home. There are lots of options for short breaks away.
A weekend is enough time for a break from your ordinary routine- whether it’s exploring off the beaten track, learning more about our cultural and natural heritage or just relaxing in beautiful surrounds.
You’ll be back to work on Monday feeling refreshed, renewed and ready to face the world.
Romantic Getaway - There’s nothing more romantic than a special break just for two. A surprise break away is a great way to show somebody just how much you care- or the perfect backdrop for a proposal.
Honeymoons- When you do make your journey down the aisle- why not top off your wonderful wedding with an idyllic honeymoon in Kenya- one of the most romantic places on earth?
If you’ve already taken the plunge- why not drop off the kids with family or friends and rediscover a second honeymoon- or a third- or more…
Stop Overs - Headed home to visit the family? Why not explore some local attractions in your home area. A single night stop over on a family trip will add a whole new element to your time off- and you’ll probably learn things you never knew about that place you think you know so well.
Active Travel - The Holiday feeling isn’t just about rest and relaxation- it’s about experiencing life. If you like to stay active- there’s always plenty to do on holiday- walk on a beach, play a round of golf, take a swim, catch some local sporting events- or try something entirely new- like water-skiing, diving, ballooning- or for the really adventurous- bungee jumping or sky diving.
Family and Friends - Do you find yourself sitting with your friends or family every Friday, trying to think of something to do over the weekend? Get a group together and look beyond your usual choices- take a joint holiday or weekend away that you’ll never forget. Holidays are all about having fun and making new friends is part of the fun- you may well come home with a bigger group of friends than you left with.
Special Events- Celebrate your Birthday, Anniversary, Engagement in style- with a holiday. Make a special event much more special- it’ll be a day to remember.
Team Challenge- Want to bring your workmates even close together, improve their team skills, problem solving skills and broaden their outlook?
An organized holiday or conference away for your team may just be what you are looking for. Time out of the office can open, clear and refresh the mind. A joint challenge- an organized hike, white water rafting or rock climbing- can strengthen bonds and teach us about working together as a team.

When was the last time you got away from it all? Far away from the daily pressures of the office, home and the daily grind?
Let’s face it- life today often presents us with much more than we can handle- and everybody appreciates the value of a break from the stress and hassle of everyday life. Taking time out of our routine makes us feel much better, clears our heads, lets us enjoy life and can give us a whole new perspective on life.
But how do you really get away from it all? Our time off work is all too often spent at home, doing the same old thing, watching the same old stuff on TV, organizing the house, attending to the children’s needs, washing the car- or joining friends at the same old place.
Heading for our upcountry homes is one commitment after another, seeing the relatives, tending to shambas- which can become another part of your ordinary routine and not really offer you that relaxation you so much deserve.
To escape the ordinary- why not try something entirely new- and really get away… on a holiday.
Not just a regular month’s leave spent at home- but a real holiday- whether it’s a couple of weeks, a weekend or a day trip away from the usual routines (home). This is your chance to take a real break, and do whatever makes you feel good about yourself.
This is your chance to discover a whole new feeling- you’ll come back with a clear head, a broader perspective and a new spring in your step that will last longer than you think.
A holiday is good for the body, mind and soul- it’s a positive experience that will make you feel better all round.
Where are we suggesting that you go to discover the holiday feeling? To one of the worlds favourite travel destinations- a place of unparalleled diversity and beauty. It’s a paradise that lies right on your doorstep- Kenya.
There’s never been a better time to get out and explore your country for yourself- and discover the holiday feeling.

Planning a holiday is not as difficult, time consuming or costly as you may have thought. Here are some options to consider:
Travel Agents can help you find the best available deals, costs, and offers. They have the contacts, knowledge and business relationships to create a perfect tailor made holiday that suits your needs. They can often arrange and book travel at a much lower rate than you’ll find by shopping around yourself. Most importantly they can save you the time and hassle of making your own arrangements.
Tour Operators can take some of the stress out of travel. Driving yourself can be tough on your car, and tiring on you. A tour operator can create your itinerary; suggest places of interest you may like to visit along the way and provide a tailor made travel plan. They’ll also provide a fully equipped tour vehicle and a qualified driver guide that will keep you informed and entertained along the way. A group hiring a driver/guide and vehicle for a weekend can cost as little as 3,000/= per person.
Airlines have special deals and fares available that are perfect for an affordable break. Flying is a fast and comfortable option that gives you more time on the ground.
Hotels offer special package rates for weekend or holiday stays, often including all meals. Kenya has a wide variety of hotels to suit all budgets and tastes- and most of them give special rates to Residents.
Tented Camps - If you like the idea of camping out but don’t want to sacrifice comfort and service- try a tented camp. With large tents fitted out with beds, ensuite bathrooms and verandah areas- these camps offer a safari in style.
Camps and Bandas - To really experience Kenya under canvas there are plenty of well appointed campsites in holiday areas all over the country- often with tent rental available. Sometimes simple, self-catering bandas are also available. KWS have excellent Bandas available for hire throughout the country at very affordable prices.
Homestays and Houses - In some areas, local people let out rooms or guesthouses. This is an economical and interesting way to spend a holiday- and a great way to experience some other Kenyan cultures firsthand. Individual houses can be rented for short term lets in holiday areas- an excellent option for large families or groups of friends.
Holiday Activities - There is always plenty to do while on holiday. Trying out new activities can be easily arranged, and there is always trained staff on hand to assist. Watersports, such as sailing, water-skiing and diving are widely available all along the coast. Adventure activities such as trekking, cycling, horse or camel riding can be experienced all over Kenya, and can be arranged locally or included in an arranged tour itinerary.
Kids Clubs - Kids love to be kept on the move and entertained, and more and more Kenyan hotels, lodges and camps cater specially for them. Kid’s clubs are professionally run and incorporate physical activity, sports and games with cultural excursions, natural history and adventure. These programs are a great success, and keep kids coming back for more.
