The scenic vistas around the Elgeyo escarpment are truly stunning. Waterfalls flow down the face of these escarpments, and at Chebloch, on the valley floor water runs through a deep and narrow gorge with sheer rock walls.

From the high Tugen Hills, there are excellent views across arid rift valley floor to Lake Baringo. Kenya’s western Highlands have become a major draw for sporting tourists.

This is the home of many of Kenya’s world famous runners. This is probably the finest place on earth for high altitude athletic training, and many international athletes visit training camps around Iten and Kaptagat.

With one of the most dramatic views in the country the Keiyo Valley is abound with fascinating experiences for the intrepid traveler as you make your trip to Sego. The diversity of the habitat and topography of the region makes for a truly quintessential safari.

Sego Safari lodge offers a tranquil environment to those who want to get away from the hustle of the towns for a quiet few days, to budget travelers and for the intrepid traveler.

The deep Chebloch Gorge which teems with fascinating ancient legend and which acted as a natural boundary, for the rivaling communities in the early 19th century is a must see attraction. Visitors can take hiking expeditions to the gorge, through the winding terrain past the salt licks that cater for the local pastoralist herders while the legends of yore are narrated.

For those who like to interact with the local people, the lodge’s ambience offers that opportunity. The Wananchi bar, with picturesque and awe inspiring views of the surrounding country side, offers opportunities to meet with local personalities, leaders, farmers and teachers.

The area is the home to the Keiyo Tugen people who belong to the larger Kalenjin grouping and who have produced notable farmers, cattlemen and athletes as well as key political leaders and business persons. Here you will get to sample their rich tradition and dance to the local beat. A fascinate way to end the day!

Sego lodge has its own orchards producing delicious organic fruits such as oranges, pawpaw, watermelons and bananas. The milk, meat, eggs and grain come from nearby farms ensuring that the meals are healthy nutritious and fresh – the very same diet that produces Kenya’s world famous athletes!

Each morning teems with bird life providing fantastic birding for sparrow-weavers, barbets and even White-crested Turacos. The wide range of birds makes it a birders paradise. Nature walks can arranged together with visits to the local homesteads. Be sure to visit the ‘bomas’ in the evenings when the unattended goats come home to roost, it’s a sight to behold.

All the rooms are ensuite (shower only) with hot and cold running water. Three family rooms have one double and one single bed, while the remaining seven twin bedrooms boast two queen size beds in each.
